Arnab Chakrabarty is one of the most skilled sarode players in the world and as a classical purist on his instrument, has few equals. A relentlessly self-improving student of music, a teacher of extraordinary ability, an instrument designer, restorer and maker of considerable skill, Arnab Chakrabarty is the complete sarode musician of his generation. Arnab received his initial training from maestros Brij Narayan and Buddhadev Dasgupta, and has supplemented his musical education with vocal training from Pandit Yashwantbuwa Joshi and sitar music from Vinayak Chittar, an inimitable sitar maestro. Trained by the late Kalyan Mukherjea, a disciple of Radhika Mohan Maitra, the legendary custodian of the Shahjahanpur tradition of sarode music, Arnab is described by his teacher as “the best representative today, of the musical values I had inherited from Pandit Maitra”. www.arnabchakrabarty.com

Sandip Bhattacharjee (Kirana Gharana) is a residential scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy Under the Guidance of Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan & Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan, the guru of Kirana Gharana from May 2002. He secured the second position at All India Radio Music Competition (1999) in Khayal besides standing First at the West Bengal State Music Competition 2001 in Bhajan. He was also a recipient National Talent Search Scholarship, Govt. Of India in 2001. An "A" Grade Performer of All India Radio, Doordarshan & ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Tollygunge ,Kolkata. New YorkThe ARChive of Contemporary Music (ARC) announces the launch of India Music Week (IMW) from October 6-13, 2013! This will be a full week of concerts, radio shows and academic events occurring around the world.

Each year The ARChive of Contemporary Music focuses on a music of the country or culture to celebrate and promote.  In October 2013, ARC will create India Music Week. This will be a full week of  concerts, radio shows and academic events occurring around the world. You can view their first two efforts at muslimworldmusicday.com +  Brazilian Music Day. Each of these sites drawing more than a million visitors and still gets over 2,000 visitors daily. Their past efforts focusing on the music of Islam and Brazil created the largest focused music reference site on the Web! 

From October 6 - 13, 2013, building on this success ARC will expand a “Day” into a full India Music “Week” IMW will be an online website to present, promote and explore the rich cultural heritage of Indian music of the past, present and future. IMW will offer videos, histories, seminars, concerts, lectures, sound files, sheet music, broadcasts, narrowcasts, album cover art galleries, essays, blogs, photos and links all highlighting the importance and beauty of Indian music as well as educate a global audience about it's many genres and facets.

ARC also build their collections and has already collected more than 5000 recordings from India! With the help of Gracenote, has already catalogued 25,000 Asian Indian recordings issued domestically and from around the world. This database will be one of the largest online reference tools on the web, freely available to all.

The ARC is actively seeking also for Project Sponsorship worldwide and a Partnership with a cultural institution in India. 

ARC invites organizations, artists and individuals interested in supporting and participating in the project to contact them.

DRIVE EAST... A Journey through Indian Music and Dance! August 19 to 25, 2013 in NYC...

"A Journey Through Indian Dance and Music" in NYC!

FOR ONE WEEK over 40 incredible Indian classical dancers and musicians come together in New York City to give us a taste of the South Asian performance arts. This includes over 25 full length concerts, a professional musician's fellowship, and summer camp!

Artists such as Rama Vaidyanathan, Anindo Chatterjee, Shankar Tucker and many more grace the stages of the LaMama Experimental Theater for a dynamic set of shows.
